Walter Erwin Arrasmith, 82, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, with family by his side at his home in rural Lindsborg, KS.

Walt, fondly known by many as “Bud”, was born on August 23, 1944, in Washington, D.C. He was the second of three children born to James F. Arrasmith and Evelyn A. (Hove) Arrasmith. Walt attended elementary school in Malvern, OH and Robertsville, OH followed by junior and senior high school in Minerva, OH. After high school, he attended Mt. Union College in Alliance, OH where he studied Business Administration/Accounting and Marketing. He was subsequently drafted into the Army where he served for two and a half years and later worked in management positions at several companies before moving to Lindsborg to open the Little Swede. He finished his professional career at Bethany College and opened Kettle Creek Coffee with Joan before retirement.

While stationed at Ft. Riley, KS, he met (Martha) Joan (Nilson) Arrasmith who would go on to become his wife and the love of his life. They were married on October 5, 1968, in Salina, KS and over the next four years, they would welcome three children – Scott, Michele and Mark. Together, they built a life centered on family and a commitment to following Christ. Walt would go on to welcome eight grandchildren into their family circle and would share many celebrations and holidays together over the following years. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary just two days before his passing.

Walt had a special fondness for working with numbers, building and building design. The result of these passions was the design and building of the house they would call home for 28 years and counting. He enjoyed working on “his little piece of heaven” and spent many hours tending to the property and enjoying the slower pace of life in the country. Walt was patriotic, had a deep love for America, and was proud to fly the American flag. He was a great protector of the things that he cherished and loved – his faith, his family and his freedom. Walt enjoyed music – notably singing, Bible study and spending time with his grandchildren, especially as they became adults. He will be remembered for his tender heart and for a life dedicated to prayer.

Walt is survived by his wife Joan, his children Scott E. Arrasmith (Shelley), Michele D. Pacheco (David), Mark B. Arrasmith (Richelle), grandchildren Luke B. Arrasmith, Jonah E. Arrasmith, Brenden D. Pacheco, Isabelle M. Pacheco, Elena M. Pacheco, Logan O. Arrasmith and Cortney E. Arrasmith, sister Lynnda Arrasmith (Kenny Bennett), brother James Arrasmith (Stephanie), brother-in-law Eugene Nilson (Judy), sisters-in-law Dorothy Eppler (Richard), and Maryanna Nilson, nephews James Arrasmith, Michael Arrasmith, Brett Bennett, Chad Bennett, Nathan Bennett, niece Krista Bennett, step-nephews David Arrasmith, and Daniel Arrasmith as well as extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Leah Arrasmith, nephew William Arrasmith, and brother-in-law Art Nilson.
