Virginia F. Morris

Virginia Morris, 80, of McPherson, died peacefully at McPherson Hospital on Sunday, November 6, 2013.

She was born August 29, 1933, in Norton, Kansas to Fred and Felice Walker, the second of four siblings. She grew up on a farm near Lenora, Kansas, graduated from Lenora High School, and attended Ft. Hays State University, where she was the first in her family to earn a college degree.

While attending college, she met and married Lester Seuser. They had three children, Audrey, Steve, and Dwight, and lived on a farm in Rush County, Kansas. In 1973, she moved to McPherson, Kansas, where she purchased and operated the El Morocco Motel. She later worked in food service.

She loved living in McPherson. She had a strong faith in God, and the Free Methodist Church and her church family there were very important to her. She became a quilt-maker and made gifts for her family. She loved gardening and going to see live theater and live music. Her two dogs were her steady companions. Going to YMCA exercise classes and the library were important parts of her daily routine.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Carmen Cook and Phyllis Annon.

She is survived by her brother, Max Walker and his wife, Caroline, of Meeker, Oklahoma; her three children, Audrey Feuge of Sugar Land, Texas, Steve Seuser of Washington, DC, and Dwight Seuser of Chico, California; three grandchildren, Corey Feuge of Sugar Land, Texas and Steven and Anna Seuser of Oswego, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, November 11, at 11 a.m. at the Free Methodist Church in McPherson. Private burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 10, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
