Vesta Stout

Vesta G. Stout, 68, of McPherson and formerly of Marion and Sterling, KS, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2008, at the Sterling House, McPherson. She was a retired school teacher, teaching math, physics, and algebra at Sterling High School in Sterling, KS.

Vesta was born on October 7, 1940, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Leland LeRoy and Lillian Josephine "Jo" (McGee) Smyres. She graduated from Windom High School in 1958 and from Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina, KS. On May 10, 1968, Vesta was united in marriage to Richard Stout in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2007.

Vesta was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson.

The memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 31, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Marion officiating. Inurnment will be in the Windom Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation.

Survivors include: brother, Ernest Smyres and wife, Clarene, of Windom, KS; sister, Linda Goodson and husband, Mike, of Phoenix, AZ; step-mother, Agatha Smyres of Inman, KS; sister-in-law, Virginia Smyres of Phoenix, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland LeRoy and Lillian Josephine "Jo" (McGee) Smyres, husband, Richard Stout, and brother, Leon Smyres.
