Verlyn Bruce

Verlyn D. Bruce, 74, of McPherson, died Thursday, December 31, 2009 at McPherson Care Center. He was a retired farmer and oil field worker. He had also worked for Nelson Barrel Sales and Merryfield Sandblasting.

Service will be at 11:00 AM Monday, January 4, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Survivors include: former wife/companion, Martha McKay of McPherson; four daughters, Deena Williams (Glenn) of McPherson, Peggy Hoag (Roy) of Topeka, KS, Tammy Johnson (Mike) of Rogers, AR, and Judy Smith (Darin) of McPherson; a son, Jeff Bruce (Jana) of Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Trevelyn Grimes (Dave) of Wichita, KS and Madonna Earnest (Gene) of Melvern, KS; mother, Edna R. Bruce of McPherson; special friend, Velma Robbins of McPherson; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marion E. Bruce and a sister, Marilyn Winslow.
