Tom Frankenfield

Thomas “Tom” Robert Frankenfield, 76, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at his home.

He was born on May 19, 1949, in Bethlehem, PA, the son of Robert E. and Helen E. (Nicholas) Frankenfield. Tom graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA. He received his bachelor’s degree from United States Military Academy at West Point, NY and master’s degree from Lehigh University in Northampton County, PA. On January 5, 1991, he was united in marriage to Judith A. Casey at St. Nicholas Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Tom proudly served his country for 23 years as a Regular Army Officer. His service in the United States Army spanned from June 9, 1971, to August 31, 1994, culminating in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. A few places Tom served in his 23 years of service are Korea, Germany, Kansas (Ft. Riley & Ft. Leavenworth), Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., and the Pentagon. He was a member of American Legion Post #24 and was dedicated to supporting military burial honors.

A faithful member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Tom was deeply involved in his community. He volunteered many hours at the McPherson Opera House and pursued hobbies he loved, including model railroading and stamp collecting. He enjoyed his Golden Retrievers, Molly, Murphy, and Buddy and was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Judy Casey of McPherson, KS; aunt, Grace Kutzler; cousins, Bonnie Flick, Susan Jandrisovits, Barbara Seeds, Pat Davidson, Tracey Stanton, and Gerald Nicholas; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Ron & Jo Tammen of Pawnee Rock, KS, Dan Casey of Russell, KS, and Jay & Valerie Casey of Natoma, KS; and numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 1, 2025, at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, McPherson.  Inurnment with Military Honors will be at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery in Fort Riley, KS.  To view a live stream broadcast of the service, PLEASE CLICK HERE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Mercy Home For Boys & Girls, Boys Home, or St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
