Steven Mark Jantz, 69, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, surrounded by family at The Cedars, McPherson.
Steve was born on October 21, 1956, in McPherson, Kansas, to Lester Dean and Shirley Mae (Stucky) Jantz. He graduated from McPherson High School with the Class of 1974 and later attended photography school in Wichita, where he began cultivating a lifelong passion for the art of photography.
On November 21, 1987, Steve was united in marriage to Heidi Ann Holloway in McPherson. Together they built a life centered on faith, love, and family, and were blessed with three sons: Levi, Josh, and Adam.
Steve was a skilled building and remodeling contractor whose craftsmanship reflected his strong work ethic and attention to detail. He also owned and operated The Home Pantry in Galva, where he enjoyed serving his community.
Photography remained one of Steve's greatest passions throughout his life. He was honored to serve as the official photographer for Doc's Friends, preserving the legacy of Doc, the historic Boeing B-29 Superfortress. He also found great satisfaction in woodworking, creating projects that reflected both his talent and creativity.
Steve and Heidi shared a love of travel and adventure, especially exploring America's National Parks and hiking their scenic trails together. He cherished time spent hunting and looked forward to trips to Colorado, where he enjoyed fly fishing in the mountain streams. The family's cabin in Buena Vista, Colorado, was a treasured gathering place filled with many cherished memories. In his younger years, Steve also enjoyed snow skiing.
Above all else, Steve's greatest joy was his family. They were the center of his life, and he loved them deeply, offering unwavering support and encouragement. His legacy will live on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the love he so generously shared with those closest to him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Heidi Jantz; two sons, Levi Jantz of McPherson, KS and Josh Jantz of Detroit, MI; siblings, Tony (Joleen) Jantz of McPherson, KS and Angela (Jeff) Krehbiel of McPherson, KS; five grandchildren, Jamison, Luke, David, Adalynn, and Emma; and many extended relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester & Shirley Jantz; parents-in-law, Vernon & Peggy Holloway; a son, Adam Jantz; and infant granddaughter, Hope.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, July 13, 2026, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 14, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A private burial will precede the service at McPherson Cemetery.
