Sharyl Jean Miller, 82, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born on August 25, 1943, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Charles “Chuck” Edward and Vivian Nadean (Shafer) Johnson. Sharyl graduated from McPherson High School in 1961. On April 24, 1965, she was united in marriage to Leonard “Lenny” Leo Miller, Jr. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson. This union was blessed with three children, Marcy, Tim, and Todd.
Sharyl worked at McPherson Bank & Trust and Pioneer Savings & Loan before becoming the office manager at Redigas, Inc., where she dedicated 37 years of service. She was also a member of the McPherson American Legion Auxiliary.
Sharyl was a pleasant, humorous person and had an incredible memory, easily recalling everyone’s phone numbers and birthdays. She loved country music and dancing the two-step, a skill she happily passed down to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking, and her family especially loved her cinnamon rolls and the many cookies she made. Sharyl was talented with a needle and thread, often mending and patching clothing for her family and making many of Marcy’s clothes when she was younger.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 61 years, Lenny of the home; children, Marcy Davenport (Bill), Tim Miller (Anji), and Todd Miller, all of McPherson, KS; a brother, Kevin Johnson (Eileen) of McPherson, KS; brother-in-law, Ron Freidenberger of Bentonville, AR; ten grandchildren, Megan Werts (Taylor), Seth Davenport (Theresa), Courtney Hunt, Garett Miller (Bree), Marisa Lott (Tanner), Quenten Miller (Brenda), Teagan Miller (Britney), Chelsea Glidden (Tyler), Tanner Young (Elissa), and Cody Young; 30 great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck & Vivian Johnson, and a sister, Sheila Freidenberger.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, March 13, 2026, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday at Crestwood Memorial Park, McPherson.
