Samuel David Ulsaker, 92, of McPherson, KS, passed away at home on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

He was born on November 2, 1933, in Savage, Maryland to Martin and Dorothy (Bowman) Ulsaker. Sam was united in marriage to Melva A. Alleman on April 9, 1955, in Angola, Indiana.

Sam was in education his whole adult life. First as a teacher, then, as a principal, and finally, as an administrator. His career started in Michigan and moved to Kansas in 1980. He retired but never stopped being a teacher as he substituted for USD 418 for many years.

He is survived by his children, Sherri Horun of McPherson, KS, Scott Ulsaker (Angie) of El Reno, OK, Tamara Wenthe (Rich) of Claremore, OK, Todd Ulsaker (Mary) of Topeka, KS, Melissa Esselman (Alex) of Kansas City, KS; a niece, Patty Oberg (Ron) of Wichita, KS; siblings, Lara Lauder of Provo, UT, Jerry Nichols (Roxanne) of Smithfield, VA, Connie Pope (Chester) of Hayes, VA, Carol Washburn of Williamsburg, VA, and George Nichols (Carol) of Hampton, VA; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Melva.

A celebration of life will be announced when determined.

Memorial donations are suggested to the McPherson Senior Center or Brookdale in McPherson in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
