Ronald “Woody” L. Logback, 90, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his home.
Woody was born on April 22, 1936, in rural Mentor,KS, the son of Leonard Adolph and Alice Sophia (Ericson) Logback. He was raised on a farm east of Lindsborg and graduated from Roxbury High School in 1954. On June 2, 1957, Woody was united in marriage to Nadine Ash at Roxbury Presbyterian Church. This union was blessed with four children: Linda, Karen, David, and Julie. Nadine preceded him in death on January 13, 2014.
Woody served in Germany with the United States Army. He worked at Tarrant Electric in Wichita before spending many years in research and development and as a machinist at CertainTeed.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and used his craftsmanship and faith to build the cross that hangs in the church sanctuary. Woody devoted much of his time to serving others as a volunteer with the ReUse It Center and Meals on Wheels. Woody was also a 4-H leader and a member of the Cushman Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed attending auctions, flea markets, and garage sales.
Woody could fix everything. A gifted machinist and mechanical genius, he was also a talented wood carver and artist, especially known for his beautifully crafted wood ducks. He was even featured on a television episode of Hatteberg’s People where he was proclaimed the “king of tinkerers”. The episode spotlighted his amazing automated amusement boxes. Woody was also the subject of many articles in several area newspapers and was recognized by the Grassroots Arts Center in Lucas, KS. To view the Hatteberg's People episode, Click Here
Survivors include his children, Linda (Arlan) Spencer of McPherson, KS, Karen (Scott) Graham of McPherson, KS, David (Kathy) Logback of Rose Hill, KS, and Julie (David) Karber of Roxbury, KS; 14 grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon) McDonald, Kyle Spencer, Kevin Spencer, Sam Spencer, Jeremy Graham, Wade (Amanda) Graham, Seth (Jordyn) Graham, Amanda Logback, Emily Logback, Allyson (Brandon) Klassen, Nicholas Karber, Jacob Karber, Anna Karber, and Michael Karber; six great-grandchildren, Spencer McDonald, Hunter McDonald, Stella Graham, Casynn Graham, Callen Graham, and Oaklynn Klassen; and many extended relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Duane Logback and Neil Logback.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, May 15, 2026, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16, at Valley View Cemetery, Roxbury.
