Ronald Read

Ronald D. Read, 83, of McPherson and formerly of Salina, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at The Cedars, McPherson. Ronald was born December 4, 1927, in Emporia, KS, the son of Charles Wilmer and Mattie June (Earhart) Read. He graduated from Salina High School and attended Kansas Wesleyan University and graduated from Wichita Technical Institute. Ronald served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a retired television repairman.

Ronald was united in marriage to Evelyn Lucille Melvin on March 25, 1951, in Salina, at the First Baptist Church. She preceded him in death on July 16, 2004.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 28, 2011, at University United Methodist Church, Salina, with Rev. Les Cantrell officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina.

Survivors include: son, Steven Read (Pamela) of McPherson, KS and granddaughter, Philippa Read of McPherson, KS.
