Robert “Bob” Lowell Fagerquist, 91, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2022, on his own terms at his home in McPherson exactly the way he wanted it.  Bob was a retired teacher and farmer.  He taught 5th through 8th grade and was principal at Conway, KS and then 5th through 8th grade at Santa Fe School before teaching 5th & 6th grade at Park School.  He retired as 6th grade teacher at the McPherson Middle School after teaching well over 30 years. 

 

Bob was born on July 11, 1931, in McPherson, KS, the son of Axel Ruben Einar (A.E.) “Bob” and Bernice Gertrude (Hanson) Fagerquist.  He graduated from McPherson High School, received a bachelor’s degree from McPherson College, and received a master’s degree from University of Minnesota Duluth. 

 

On August 23, 1957, Bob was united in marriage to Betty Ann Coombs.  This union was blessed with three daughters, Lori, Amy, and Krista.

 

Bob served in the United States Coast Guard from 1953 to 1957.

 

Survivors include: his loving wife of 65 years, Betty; two daughters, Lori (Jeff) McCoy of Cave Creek, AZ and Krista Wenski of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, Ashton William Robert McCoy of Cave Creek, AZ and Cohen Elyse Wenski of St. Louis, MO; five nephews, Kevin (Chandra) Stauffer of Wichita, KS, Mark (Kim) Stauffer of Wichita, KS, Brian (Angie) Stauffer of Salina, KS, Keith Everhart of Grand Lake, CO, and Wayne (Cheryl) Everhart of Canton, KS; and many extended family and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Fagerquist; parents; brother, Ward Fagerquist; sister, Marilyn Stauffer & brother-in-law, Jim Stauffer; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Thelma “Tim” & Dwight Everhart.

 

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 29, 2022, at McPherson Cemetery.

 

Memorial donations are suggested to McPherson County Humane Society or McPherson Animal Shelter in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.  If sending flowers, please send to Stockham Family Funeral Home.
