Rex Ray Carlson, 60, of McPherson, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at his home in McPherson. He had worked as an insulator at the N.C.R.A. Refinery and as a certified Massey Ferguson mechanic. He also worked at Rankin equipment.

Rex was born on June 12, 1954, in McPherson, KS, the son of Vernie H. and Mary June (Winter) Carlson. He graduated from Inman High School. On August 14, 2004, Rex was united in marriage to Janet Ann (Mason) Simoneau at the Andover Lutheran Church, Windom.

He was a lifelong member of Andover Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Jan of the home; daughters, Tabitha Yu (David) of Loveland, CO and Ammie Claussen (Curt) of Olathe, KS; son, Ray Carlson (Jacinda) of Hutchinson, KS; step-sons, Brad Dix (Liz) of Salina, KS and Jeff Simoneau (Katrina) of Salina, KS; step-daughter, Danelle Cavender (Kevin) of Salina, KS; brother, Max Carlson of Sterling, KS; sister, Jo Call of Buhler, KS; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jackie Carlson.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Andover Lutheran Church, rural Windom, KS. Burial will follow at the Andover Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 15, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
