Percy Aung-Thein, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at his home in McPherson. He was retired from Johns Manville in McPherson where he worked as a forklift operator. He had been a McPherson resident since 1978, moving from Burma.

Percy was born August 29, 1935, in Rangoon, Burma, the son of U Mone and Daw Myant Nyunt. On November 14, 1960, he married Rosie Khin Aye in Burma. This union was blessed with four children.

Survivors include: his wife, Rosie of the home; three children, Khin Aung-Thein (Richard Green) of Virginia Beach, VA, Tim Aung-Thein of Seattle, WA, and Myo McKinney (Scott) of Wichita, KS; a sister, Daw Myint-Thein of Burma; grandchildren, Alyssa Lloyd (Craig), Cara McKinney (Lance Bowman), Brandon McKinney, and Trevor McKinney; great-grandchildren, Hanna Arney, Treyton Bowman, and January Lloyd; and several nieces and nephews.

Percy was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, and a son, Zaw.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 8, 2016, at First Baptist Church in McPherson with Rev. Andy Currier officiating. Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery. After the burial, everyone is invited for a meal that will be served in the church fellowship hall. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
