Patty A. Kroll

May 27, 1947 — January 18, 2026

McPherson, KS

Patty Ann Kroll, 78, formerly of Kansas City, Kansas, passed peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at Loving Care of McPherson, Kansas.

Patty was born on May 27, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Grandview High School in Grandview, Missouri, in 1965 and treasured her lifelong friendships, never missing a class reunion and always looking forward to gathering with classmates.

Patty had a deep commitment to service and education. She earned her Master’s degree in Public Administration from Wichita State University, a source of great pride. Her professional career reflected her dedication to helping others, serving as City Clerk for the City of Derby, Kansas, and later as Human Resources Director for the Unified Government of Kansas City, Kansas, and Wyandotte County, where she retired after years of faithful service.

In 1966, Patty was united in marriage to Edward M. Kroll. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Cindi and Lorna, who were the center of her world.

A woman of strong faith, Patty was a devoted member of the Resurrection United Methodist Church in Leawood, Kansas. She found joy in serving through the Bulletin Stuffers Bible Study Group, the Congregational Care Team, and the Lead to Read Program. Helping others was simply part of who she was. Patty also shared laughter and friendship as a member of the Pink Flamingo Divas.

Patty found peace in her garden, where she often said she talked with Jesus while tending her flowers. Her grandchildren were the true joy of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She delighted in dancing, reading, traveling, going to the movies, scrapbooking, quilting, and creating special memories on girls’ trips with her granddaughters. Patty became an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, supporting the team faithfully and watching every game. She especially admired Patrick Mahomes.

She is survived by her daughters, Cindi Hauptli (Jay) of Lawrence, Kansas, and Lorna Pauls (Kelly) of McPherson, Kansas; her grandchildren, Madison Welch (Dustin), Macie Rierson (J), John Hauptli, and Adam Hauptli; and her precious great-grandchildren, Oakley and Riggs Rierson and McCoy Glass.

She was preceded in death by her mother & step-father, Lucy Elizabeth (Mallicoat) & Robert “Bob” Moore; father, LeRoy Harold Strompp; and half-brothers, Bobby Mallicoat and Boots Mallicoat.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Memorial Chapel, 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, Kansas 66224. Inurnment will follow at the Memorial Garden at the church. All are welcome to stay for a reception following the service.
