Maxine E. Gibbons, 93, of McPherson, KS, and formerly of Denver, CO, peacefully passed away on May 15, 2025, at The Cedars, McPherson.
Maxine was born February 29, 1932, in Tipp City, Ohio, the daughter of M. Jay and Esther E. (Jackson) Coppock. She graduated from Tulia (Texas) High School and continued her education at McPherson College. She was united in marriage to Wade M. Gibbons on May 29, 1951, in Tulia, Texas.
Prior to retirement, she was a receptionist for Wonder Bread.
She is survived by two brothers, Jack Coppock and Rodney Coppock; two grandchildren, Andria Garrett and Jessica Fraker; five great-grandchildren, Rowan, Piper, & Nora Garrett and Jeremiah & Josiah Fraker; and many extended relatives and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Sharon Augustson, Susan Smith, and Joyce Frew; children, Wadine Gibbons and Jay Gibbons; and a grandchild, Jayson Gibbons.
You are invited to The Cedars Event Center at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 18, where the life and living of Maxine Gibbons will be celebrated. At 11:00 am there will be in-person sharing led by The Cedars Chaplain, Reverend Chris Whitacre, which will be followed at 11:30 by a live-stream broadcast from Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, Littleton, CO; Maxine and Wade's home congregation for many years. That service will be led by Reverend Gail Erisman Valeta.
