Mary Jane Rickner, 94, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2019, surrounded by family at Angel Arms, McPherson.
Mary Jane was born on August 27, 1924, in Chase, KS, the daughter of Kingston James and Aneta Magdalene (Schroeder) Hardwick. She graduated from Chase High School in 1942 and attended Chillicothe Business College in Missouri. Mary Jane was united in marriage to Norman LeRoy Rickner on May 22, 1945, in Lyons, KS. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2002.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship, Ladies of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary #24, and life member of V.F.W. Auxiliary #2715.
Survivors include: daughter, Norma Sue Rockenbach of Derby, KS; daughter-in-law, Gemma Rickner of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, Tami Bruce (Tom), Terry Rockenbach, Mark Colby, Chandra Knowles (Brandon), Lauren Przymus (Peter), and Blair Rodriguez (Freddy); and seven great-grandchildren, Karyss Colby, Caylie Jacobs, Cole Jacobs, Vivian Knowles, Everett Knowles, Ronin Przymus, and Phoenix Rodriguez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Charlene Rae Rickner, son, Larry Keith Rickner, brother, Richard James Hardwick, son-in-law, Rocky Rockenbach, and grandson, Matt Colby.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, May 13, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Lynn Scott officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
