Mark W. Frownfelter

Mark Wayne Frownfelter, 65, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Tuesday, June 30th at his home. Mark was born March 12, 1961, in McPherson, KS to Dale and Genevieve (Zehr) Frownfelter.

Mark graduated from Marquette High School with the class of 1979. Mark played football and wrestled. He graduated from Vo-Tech in Salina and went to work with Warta Buick for 20 years as a mechanic. He then went to work for Sutherland’s in Salina. After his father passed away and his mother moved to Marquette, Mark decided he wanted to live on the family farm and moved home. He then went to work for Wal Mart in McPherson where he has been working the past 14 years.

Mark was a loving son who would come home on weekends and faithfully execute the “Mark to do list”. He was a fan of Star Trek and taught his oldest nephew to appreciate it as well. Mark enjoyed model trains and RC planes.

Behind Mark’s quiet and unassuming nature was a great sense of humor and strong intellect. He could discuss the current events in detail and had an incredible mechanical mind. Holiday game time will never be the same again. Whether helping get out of a locked mystery room, fighting for Monopoly property or balancing Christmas ornaments on Solo cups, Mark’s gaming expertise and laughter will be missed. He enjoyed living in the country and was a great uncle to his nieces and nephews. Growing up, he attended the United Methodist Church in Marquette.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; a cousin, Johnny Norris; and an aunt, Leona Zehr. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Bob Stark; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Amber Frownfelter; brother, John Frownfelter; aunt, Joyce Norris; uncle, Clyde Zehr; and nieces and nephews, Clarissa Stark (Collin Beatty), Anna (Anthony) Fiore, Elizabeth (Chip) Barclay, Karson Frownfelter and Chance Frownfelter; and seven cousins.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday July 18, 2026, at Stockham Family Funeral Home in McPherson, Kansas. A graveside service will follow in Excelsior Cemetery near Marquette.

The family would prefer memorial contributions be payable to the Marquette Learning Center in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
