Marjorie “Marge” Mae Vernon, 88, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2019, surrounded by her family at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, KS. She was a homemaker.
Marge was born on December 13, 1930, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Glen O. and Georgie Ruth (McCord) Weidenbach. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1948 and attended Kansas State University.
On March 26, 1950, Marge was united in marriage to Edwin C. Vernon, Jr. in McPherson. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2012.
She was a member of McPherson Hospital Volunteer Services.
Survivors include: sons, Larry Vernon and wife, Jeanie, of McPherson, KS and David Vernon and wife, Genise, of Lake Oswego, OR; daughter, Barbara Turnbull and husband, Tom, of Independence, OR; sister, Rae Irene Winzeler and husband, Dick, of Edmond, OK; six grandchildren, Joshua Vernon and wife, Jenny, Lance Vernon and wife, Stacy, Lacey Morgan and husband, Brian, Chris Dreher and wife, Melissa, Chase Vernon, and Emily Vernon; six great-grandchildren, Seth & Olivia Morgan, Kendall, Jordan, & Levi Dreher, and Lucy Vernon; and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Richard O. Weidenbach.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 15, 2019, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. George Bocox officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time on Sunday. Burial will follow the service at Crestwood Memorial Park Cemetery, McPherson.
