Marilyn Jane Stauffer, 80, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Monday, March 22, 2021, at Salina Regional Health Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Marilyn was born in McPherson, KS on September 29th, 1940, the daughter of Axel ‘Bob’ and Bernice Fagerquist. She was a lifetime resident of McPherson, attended Wickersham Grade School and graduated from McPherson High School in 1958. She then received a secretarial degree from Wichita Business School in 1959.

After a brief stay in Washington, D.C, she returned to McPherson, KS. On September 25th, 1964, Marilyn Fagerquist was united in marriage with Jim Stauffer in Lindsborg, KS. They were blessed with three sons, Kevin, Mark and Brian.

In her many years of work as a secretary and bookkeeper, she spent time working for the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington D.C, Grumman Aircraft in New York, NY, Crabb’s Town & Country in McPherson, KS and finished her career with National Farmers Union in McPherson, KS.

Marilyn’s love in life was to have fun and enjoy time with her family and friends. Her hobbies included music, cards and board games, tending to her many flower gardens, and eventually becoming a caring grandmother and great-grandmother.

Marilyn is survived by her three sons; Kevin and wife Chandra of Wichita, KS, Mark and wife Kim of Wichita, KS, and Brian and wife Angie of Salina, KS; and a brother Bob and wife Betty of McPherson, KS. Marilyn was blessed with twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Kevin and Chandra’s Raysha (Alonzo), Jethren (Riot), Jade, Brent, Charley and Allison; Mark and Kim’s Taylor, Sydney and Olivia; and Brian and Angie’s Kiley (Braelynn), Caden and Reagan; and two nieces Lori McCoy and Krysta Wenski.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Ward, and a niece Amy Fagerquist.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 26, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Emily Spearman Cannon officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
