Margaret J. White, 84, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2018, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital. She worked as a nurse’s aide for Halstead Hospital, for Hickory Manor for ten years, and for The Cedars for 29 years. She also was a bookkeeper and receptionist for the family business, White’s TV & Communications.
Margaret was born on October 12, 1933, in Halstead, KS, the daughter of Carl and Marjorie (Holle) Seiler. Margaret was united in marriage to Lee I. White on January 1, 1954, in Halstead, KS. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was very loyal at reading the Bible and doing her daily devotions. Every day, she was faithful about keeping a log of her activities. She was a wonderful cook and was especially known for her fried chicken and wide cut noodles. Throughout her life, she had many pets, and she especially loved her dogs. Her little Dachshund, “Ginger”, could somehow always sense when it was Wednesday. Every Wednesday, Ginger visited Margaret at the nursing home.
Survivors include: her husband, Lee of the home; son, Shawn White and wife, Stacey, of McPherson, KS; five cousins, Dan Dreese, Pat Dreese, Marjorie Logan, Katherine Mayfield, & Beth “Piglet” VanNatta; and dear friend, Barbara Jenkins of Windom, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Neva Jean Dreese.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 18, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Darren Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery.
