Margaret A. Wedel

Margaret Ann Wedel, 66, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, surrounded by family and friends at Salina Regional Health Center.

Margaret was born October 3, 1959, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Wilfred Aloysius and Elaine Albertonia (Quint) Sander. She spent her grade school years at St. Joseph Catholic Church and graduated from McPherson High School in 1978. She received her cosmetology degree from Sidney’s Hairdressing College.

On July 29, 1978, Margaret was united in marriage to Wyman J. Wedel in McPherson. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1985.

Margaret retired from Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance after many dedicated years of service. Earlier in her career, she worked as a shift manager at Pizza Hut, where she built lasting friendships.

Margaret was truly a jack of all trades. She loved baking and decorating cakes, sewing, and spending time on arts and crafts projects. She completed auto vo-tech training and took pride in working on and repairing vehicles. Her talents were many, and she approached each hobby with enthusiasm and skill.

She was a very giving and forgiving person, always supportive of her family and friends. Margaret generously helped her neighbor, Nancy, with appointments and medical needs, and she cherished playing cards with her friend, Diane. She enjoyed singing karaoke at the American Legion and attending concerts.

Above all else, Margaret treasured time spent with her family. She rarely missed her grandchildren’s school functions and sporting events, celebrating each milestone with pride and joy. Her Christian faith was deeply important to her and guided the way she lived her life.

Margaret will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, and the love she shared with everyone around her.

She is survived by three children, Robert Wedel of McPherson, KS, Rebecca Wedel of McPherson, KS, and Austin Ensz of Galva, KS; siblings, Ann Friesen (Jon) of Colby, KS, Carmelita Olson (Bruce) of Fountain, CO, Mark Sander (Tabitha) of McPherson, KS, and Maria Dinkel (Tracy) of Victoria, KS; three grandchildren, Rogan, Elainah, and Travice; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two siblings, Aaron Sander and Gwendolyn Cutsinger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson with Father Michael Kerschen officiating. Burial will follow at Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery.
