L. Lois Lake, 85, of Derby and formerly of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Derby Health & Rehabilitation Center, Derby, KS. She was retired from Beechcraft in Wichita where she had worked as a stockroom clerk.
Lois was born on December 28, 1929, in Hillsboro, Kansas, the daughter of Fred J. and Ellen Carrie (Kasper) Winter. She attended the local schools around Lehigh and graduated from Lehigh High School in 1947.
On September 7, 1947, Lois was united in marriage to Walter C. Lake, Jr. in Lehigh, KS. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2009.
Lois was a 50 year member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, McPherson.
Survivors include: daughter, Rita Goben (Bob) of Derby, KS; grandson, Aaron Lake (Kim) of Derby, KS; great-grandsons, Austin & Peyton Lake of Derby, KS; sister, Betty Brewer of McPherson, KS; dear friend, Geri Sledge of Flower Mound, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Julie Lake, brother, Glenn Winter, and sisters, Wilma Schroeder, Joyce Gooding, Mary Tector, and Virginia Schulz.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 10, 2015, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
