LaVeda C. Regier

LaVeda C. (Unruh) Regier, 84, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2013, at the McPherson Care Center. She was retired from Farmer's Alliance Insurance Company, having worked in the claims department. She formerly was a teacher at Greenwood, North Union, and Good Hope rural schools.

She was born on December 8, 1928, in Galva, KS, the daughter of Dave J. and Della Mae (Decker) Unruh. She graduated from Galva High School and attended McPherson College. On November 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Regier at the Methodist Parsonage in Canton by Rev. Evan Markley.

LaVeda was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson.

Survivors include: husband, Charles Regier of the home; son, Kelly Regier of McPherson, KS; daughters, Kathy Burnison and husband, Randy, of Raymore, MO and Carol Jonas and husband, Steve, of Marion, KS; sisters, Darlene Everhart of McPherson, KS and Norma Mittelsteadt of Jamesville, MN; brother, Robert Unruh and wife, Mary, of Canton, KS; seven grandchildren, Jon-Jon Burnison (Maggie) of Wichita, KS, Ashley Nelson (Tuck) of Raymore, MO, Nicolas Jonas of McPherson, KS, Jeremy Jonas (Karen) of McPherson, KS, Corey Jonas (Ariel) of Olathe, KS, Kendall Regier of Wichita, KS, and Staci Regier of Lawrence, KS; three great-grandchildren and one of the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Roland Unruh, sister, Joyce Lawless, brothers-in-law, Carl Lawless, Merlin Mittelsteadt, and Richard Everhart; and sisters-in-law, Betty Demieville and JoAnn Regier.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 9, 2013, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Rice Ratzlaff officiating. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
