Kendall Earl Shaw, 69, of McPherson, Kansas, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at McPherson Health & Rehab.
Kendall was born on March 6, 1957, in Pensacola, Florida, the son of Harry J. and Carol E. Dies. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1975 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He attended taxidermy school, beginning a career that would become both his profession and his passion. In March of 1984, Kendall was united in marriage to Jennifer G. Huffman in Hawaii.
Kendall took great pride in the art of taxidermy and was known for his exceptional craftsmanship, serving countless hunters throughout the years. Among his many memorable projects was the restoration of the MGM Lion for the McPherson Museum.
Kendall also had a remarkable talent for photography. What began as a way to capture the people and events of his local community grew into professional photography work at the collegiate and professional levels. He photographed numerous local sporting events and later had the opportunity to photograph for Wichita State University, Kansas State University, University of Kansas, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas City Royals, among others. His love of sports and photography came together in a way that brought him great joy.
An avid outdoorsman, Kendall found some of his greatest happiness in hunting, fishing, bird watching, and outdoor photography. He especially enjoyed fishing in ponds and rivers and loved spending time in nature with his camera in hand. A devoted sports fan, he enthusiastically followed the Kansas City Chiefs and the University of Kansas. When his sons were young, he enjoyed coaching the Junior Pups and cheering them on in their activities.
Kendall had a special love for dogs, particularly his beloved Gauge, who was a cherished companion. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren, especially fishing and metal detecting for artifacts together. He also greatly valued the friendship and fellowship he shared with his Breakfast Club friends.
Above all, Kendall will be remembered for his many talents, his love of the outdoors and sports, his passion for photography and taxidermy, and the special memories he created with his family and friends.
He is survived by his sons, Caden (Alyx) Shaw of Marquette, Kansas, and Byron Shaw of McPherson, Kansas; step-son, Cody (Casey) Stucky of Maize, Kansas; siblings, Lynette (Greg) Pauls of McPherson, Kansas, and Darin (Amanda) Shaw of Owasso, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Klace Shaw, Kreed Shaw, Kaelynn Shaw, Karston Shaw, Karter Shaw, Caiya Stucky, Camdyn Stucky, Cy Stucky, Cohen Stucky, and Channing Stucky; nieces and nephews, Hayley (TJ) Schroeder, Kiley (Matt) Farnsworth, Lauren (Shelton) Thigpen, Jarett Shaw, Ryan (Jordan) Shaw, and Connor Shaw; special friends, Mike Tillman and Rick Roberts; and many extended relatives and friends.
