John Clifton,

John R. "Jack" Clifton, Jr., 81, of McPherson and formerly of Augusta, died Saturday, January 6, 2007, at Memorial Hospital in McPherson.

He was a retired salesman having worked at the Western Auto stores in McPherson and August, Simpson's Furniture & Carpet in Augusta, and Star Lumber & Carpet in Wichita. He also worked as a school crossing guard.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, Jan. 11, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Survivors include: his wife, Betty of the home; three sons, Gary Clifton of McPherson, KS, Mike Clifton of Augusta, KS, and Brad Clifton of McPherson, KS; two daughters, Jacquie Balzer of Newton, KS and Roxanne Riggs of Topeka, KS; a brother, David Clifton of Chicago, IL; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rea Spears.
