Gerlene L. Bryant

Gerlene Louise (Brozek) Bryant, 88, of Lindsborg, KS and formerly of Galva, KS, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Salina Regional Health Center.

She was born on April 9, 1938, on the family farm near Glendale, KS, the daughter of Antone “Tony” and Verna Layola (Weis) Brozek. She was educated in the Glendale Grade School and graduated from Brookville (KS) High School in 1956.

Gerlene was united in marriage to Joe D. Bryant on June 5, 1955, at the First Methodist Church in Salina, KS. Later, they moved to North Carolina where they both worked for Duke Energy Corp. and from which they retired. They returned to Kansas in 2005. Gerlene and Joe were married for 68 years prior to his passing on November 2, 2023.

Mrs. Bryant was a member of Cross Way Bible Baptist Church (formerly known as King’s Hiway Baptist Church), McPherson. God gifted her with many songs of faith. Gerlene would sing them for congregational services at King’s Hiway and other churches. She loved her church family and most of all, her Savior, Jesus.

Gerlene is survived by a sister, Maxine Davis of Salina, KS; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Kris and Cheri’ Hanschu and their family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony & Verna Brozek; husband, Joe Bryant; a brother, Harold Brozek; a sister, Lois Gish; and infant brother, Myron Gale Brozek.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 28, at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, KS.
