Frances Eileen Tarnstrom, 79, of Marquette, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Salina Regional Hospital.
Frances was a wife of 59 years to Ronald, a mother of 5 children, Pamela, Kim, Scott, Tamara, and Guy. Frances had 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren that she loved very much and they loved her back. She always remembered them with a card on birthdays and talked to them on the phone.
She was born to her parents Alvin and Mabel Rodgers and was one of 7 children, Doris, Pauline, Janice, Roy, Paul, and Tommy and stepsister Virginia.
She was a member of God's family and worshipped with Grace Baptist Temple in Salina, Kansas for the first part of her life and with Calvary Baptist Church for the last part of her life. She enjoyed being a homemaker for her family, a Sunday School teacher, a school teacher at Grace Baptist School, and a Medical Aide at Bethany Home for over 30 years before retiring in 2009 . Frances enjoyed life, especially meeting her girlfriends for coffee, going shopping, cooking for her family and friends, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. Her life was given to service especially in the last 5 years as she lovingly cared for her husband both at home and at Riverview Estates. She was known to put others needs before herself and received pleasure from giving to ministries and those in need. As a survivor of many health problems including 4 types of cancers, 77 years of asthma and heart weakness ,she was a woman of strength and would be the first to tell you it came from her faith in God, who was her Best Friend.
Frances will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. We look forward to meeting her again in heaven.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at 6:00 PM, June 23, at Riverview Estates in Marquette with Rev. Daniel Cate officiating. A private graveside celebration and inurnment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.
