Listen to Obituary

Evelyn (Ev) Schrag was born to Fred and Anna T. (Stucky) Flickinger on April 18, 1936. She joined three brothers, Floyd, Leland, and LaVerne. Later, a brother, Marvin, was born. They lived on their farm 4 miles north and 1/4 west of Moundridge, Kansas.

Ev accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at age 11 in a tent meeting. She was baptized upon her confession of faith in Christ alone for salvation and joined Eden Mennonite Church in rural Moundridge.

On June 8, 1956, Evelyn married her high school sweetheart, Norvin Schrag. Together, they had three daughters, Vikki, Jerri, and Tonia. They attended Garden Township Mennonite Church near Hesston. In 1967, they moved to Omaha, NE where Ev attended Grace Bible Institute part-time and helped “put hubby through” school by typing his papers and working part-time to help support the family.

In the following years, Ev was a pastor’s wife, CEF missionary, and homemaker. Beginning in 1981, God gave her the gift of writing poetry and composing music. She used her singing talents to minister in various places and events.

Ev’s life was centered on one desire: to glorify God so that all her immediate and extended family come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. Ev passed away on October 16, 2026, at the age of 90. She is rejoicing today with her wonderful Lord and Savior.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Anna Flickinger, three brothers, Floyd (Edith) Flickinger, LaVerne Flickinger, and Marvin Flickinger; sister-in-law Kathy Flickinger, and one nephew, Todd Flickinger.

Ev is survived by her husband, Norvin Schrag; daughters Vikki (& Larry) Carlson, Jerri (& Randy) Lutz, Tonia (& Milton) Busenitz; grandchildren Chad Carlson, Karissa (Andy) Carlson-Thomas, Jeremiah Lutz, Jon-Marc (Michelle) Lutz, Ryan (Rachelle) Busenitz, Briana Busenitz, Danae (Simon) Pyle; 10 great-grandchildren Loenn, Arie, & Halle Thomas; Isaiah & Angela Lutz; Zoe, Shawn, & Kyrie Busenitz; Layton & Javan Pyle; brother Leland Flickinger; sisters-in-law Luene Flickinger and Rita Flickinger.
