Ereline Jane Hardee, 88, of Galva, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital.
She was born May 30, 1936, in Moundridge, KS, the daughter of Henry John Wills, Sr. and Susie Ann (Seibrandt) Wills. Ereline graduated from Canton High School. On January 21, 1956, Ereline was united in marriage to Everett LeRoy Cape in McPherson, KS. This union was blessed with two children Paula Sue and Everett LeRoy. LeRoy died on August 15, 1965. In 1970, she married Lewis Joseph “Joe” Hardee in Miami, OK. Marla Jane and Terri Jo were born to this union. Joe died on October 9, 1984.
Ereline worked in housekeeping for over 20 years at The Cedars in McPherson. In her younger years, she worked as a waitress. She thoroughly enjoyed bowling and had a deep love for reading and watching Murder, She Wrote. A devoted Kansas City Royals fan, Ereline followed the team closely on both television and radio, and even celebrated her 80th birthday by attending a Royals game in person. She also loved going on bus tours, embracing the adventure and camaraderie they offered.
She is survived by her four children, Paula Cape of McPherson, KS, LeRoy Cape (Luz Mila) of McPherson, KS, Marla Jane Sanchez (Tony) of Hutchinson, KS, and Terri Moddelmog (Todd) of Galva, KS; sister-in-law, Judy Alstatt; grandchildren, Billy Prickett, Jr. (Maricris), Greg Wespe (Christina), Cody Cape, Cheyenne Sanchez (Austin), Trey Moddelmog (Zoe), Devin Cape (Peyton), Nick Criqui, & Tia Moddelmog; great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Josie, Calla, Rowyn, Kendra, Kayleigh, & Paige; and many extended relatives and friends.
Ereline was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Susie Wills; siblings, Harry Wills (Mary Jane) and Bob Wills; and great-grandson, Madden Cape.
The graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Empire Cemetery in Galva, KS.
Memorial donations can be given to the McPherson High School (for the bowling program) in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
