Elmer A. Richards, 89, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at The Cedars, McPherson. He was a mechanic (pump doctor) at NCRA Refinery for 36 years.
Elmer was born on August 22, 1926, in Salina, KS, the son of Alvin L. and Irene A.S. (Johnson) Richards. He graduated from McPherson High School. Elmer was united in marriage to Lois (Davis) Allmon on September 1, 1967, in McPherson, KS.
Elmer served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the African and European Theaters of Operation. He was a Life Member of V.F.W. Post #2715 and attended the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Lois of the home; six children, Vance Richards of Boulder City, NV, David (Jean) Allmon of Abilene, KS, Dean (Rita) Allmon of Newton, KS, Delbert Allmon of Ellsworth, KS, Deanna Allmon of Inman, KS, and Dennis Allmon of Albuquerque, NM; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Arlen Richards and Michael Richards, grandson, Mark Allen Richards, granddaughter, Charlotte Allmon, daughter-in-law, Young Richards, and sister, Clela Serviss.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 13, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. H. Dick Reynolds officiating. Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 9:30 AM, Friday, at the Marquette Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, Nov. 12, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
