Eleanor Esau

Eleanor June Esau, 85, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at her home.

She was born June 12, 1940, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Herman F. and Ella (Hamm) Decker. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1958. On April 26, 1959, Eleanor was united in marriage to Maynard Neal Esau in McPherson. This union was blessed with a daughter, Christina. Maynard preceded Eleanor in death on August 31, 2001.

Eleanor was retired from Great Plains Federal Credit Union where she worked as a teller.

Survivors include her daughter, Christina Whitmer of McPherson, KS; two granddaughters, Jordan Whitmer (Victor Valdez) and Logan Whitmer, all of McPherson, KS; nieces & nephews, Rhonda Miller (Scott), Jim Gordon, Nancy Foss, Dr. Tony Hapgood, and Bobby Hapgood; and close friends, Dorothy Otte, Sally Puchosic, Mary Ann Musselwhite, and Ray Gibbs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Keran Pattengill.

A private celebration of life will be held.
