Edna Jeanne Hilgenfeld, 90, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Wichita.
She was born on January 7, 1936, in Van Houten, New Mexico, the daughter of Joseph Charles and Eufelia (Solano) Lucero. In 1952, Edna was united in marriage to William C. Moody. She later married Frederick Earl Hilgenfeld on February 16, 1982, in McPherson. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1995.
Edna worked at Alumax, McPherson Sentinel, and in the cafeteria at Abbott Labs.
She is survived by three daughters, Kimberly (Kelly) Abbey of Wichita, KS, Marilyn (Clint) Moore of Wellington, KS, and Anna (Tom) Ruxlow of McPherson, KS; 12 grandchildren, Austin Pelnar, Tony (Andi) Pelnar, Trent (Marci) Ruxlow, Vince (Christy) Ruxlow, Quinn (Baily) Ruxlow, Jill (Derek) Frazier, Amber Gould, Tim Moore, Bill Campbell (Souk), James Moody, Buffy Gabel, and Christie Arnce; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two sons, Wes Moody and Doug Moody; eight brothers; four sisters; and a great-granddaughter, Joanna Hope Ruxlow.
Edna’s wishes were for a private family viewing followed by cremation.
