Diana “Di” Mae Griffis, 45, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center in Wichita.
Di was born on September 24, 1979, in Lancaster, PA, the daughter of Jill Ann Mallinson and Randy Lee Griffis.
She was the proud owner and operator of Ristorante Italiano de Famiglia in McPherson, where she shared her love of food, family, and community.
A devoted mother and doting grandmother, Di’s legacy is one of deep love, fierce strength, and unwavering generosity. She was strong-willed, stubborn, kind, giving, selfless, and a woman of great faith. Her compassion and care will continue to shine through her children and all those whose lives she touched.
If you asked Di about her fondest memories, she would say they were any moments spent with her children and grandchildren. Her love for her pets—Chola, Oreo, and Bear—was just as deep, and they held a special place in her heart. Christmas Eve was always a cherished time, marked by the beloved family tradition of opening presents together. Di also found joy in singing, especially to country music, and her favorite color, purple, was a reflection of her vibrant and warm spirit.
Survivors include her parents, Randy (Gay Lea) Griffis of Sedalia, MO and Jill Mallinson of McPherson, KS; four children, Alexis Griffis, Tzitziki “Tiki” Romero, Tyler Romero, and Adrian Romero, all of McPherson, KS; five siblings, Don Griffis of Enterprise, AL, Kayla Griffis of Sedalia, MO, Krista Dossett of Hopkinsville, KY, Eric Griffis of Sedalia, MO, and Kassy Barkacs of Sedalia, MO; five grandchildren, Heyli Maldonado, Yadriel Romero, Emilee Maldonado, Analia Romero, and Sofia Maldonado; and many extended relatives and a host of friends.
