Dennis R. Perera, 71, of Galva, KS, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was an oil producer and operator.

Dennis was born on November 5, 1942, in McPherson, KS, the son of Ray and Edna (Garrison) Perera. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1960 and attended McPherson College. On May 25, 1996, he was united in marriage to Emma S. (Russell) Wenger in McPherson, KS.

Survivors include: his wife, Emma of the home; parents-in-law, Chet and Doris Russell of McPherson, KS; step-daughter, J. Staci Cunningham (Scott) of Chanute, KS; step-son, Jeff Wenger (Suzy) of Chapman, KS; granddaughters, Susanne and Sadie Rae Cunningham of Chanute, KS; brothers-in-law, J.R. Russell (Deb) of Galva, KS and Ted Russell (Ruth) of Andover, KS; sister-in-law, Beth Robinson (Tom) of McPherson, KS; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul Perera; daughter, Paula Perera; brother-in-law, David Russell; and sister-in-law, Vickie Russell.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at First Christian Church with Rev. Lynn Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Empire Cemetery, Galva. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
