Delano L. Schafer

Delano “Del” L. Schafer, 86, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, surrounded by family at his home in McPherson. He was a farmer and worked for NCRA Refinery for 37 years. He was a United States Army Veteran.

Del was born on December 19, 1934, in McPherson, KS, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Agnes Alfreda (Ledell) Schafer. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1952. On March 7, 1954, Del was united in marriage to Glorice Helen Hanson at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Del was a loving husband and father, a good friend and neighbor. He was thankful for the many blessings he received during his lifetime.

Survivors include: his wife of 67 years, Glorice of the home; a son, Tim Schafer and wife, Kim, of McPherson, KS; a daughter, Angie Schafer of McPherson, KS; two grandchildren, George Schafer and Jamie Schafer, both of McPherson, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Frankie Hazelton and Joan Stewart, and a brother, Wayne Schafer.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Tim Leaf officiating. A private graveside service will be held at McPherson Cemetery.
