Craig Lee Janzen, 71, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at McPherson Hospital.

He was born on October 21, 1954, in McPherson, KS, the son of Harold Joe and Donna Sue (Flood) Janzen. Craig was raised in a loving Christian home alongside his four siblings.

Craig attended McPherson schools and was a member of the high school band, where he played the trumpet. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1972. Following high school, he attended truck driving school and went on to make truck driving his career. Craig truly enjoyed the open road and the freedom that came with long-haul trucking. HIs CB handle was "Night Rider." He had an exceptional sense of direction and could seemingly tell anyone exactly how to get wherever they needed to go—what interstate to take, which highways to follow, and which roads would get them there. His knowledge of the roads was something he took great pride in.

A quiet and unassuming man, Craig found enjoyment in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid reader and had a genuine appreciation for all kinds of sports, especially baseball and football. He also enjoyed watching movies and had a remarkable memory for favorite scenes and lines, often able to recite them from memory.

Craig enjoyed sitting down for a good conversation and especially cherished time spent with his family. His quiet presence, knowledge of the open road, and love for his family will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Survivors include his mother, Donna Janzen of McPherson, KS; four children, Treva (Robert) Belyea of Manhattan, KS, Melissa (John) Varelman of Abilene, KS, Chris Janzen of Florence, KS, and Shauna Janzen of Marion, KS; siblings, Lynnette (Kevin) Sherman of Le Mars, IA, Mark Janzen of McPherson, KS, Joel (Vicki) Janzen of Pottsboro, TX, and Matt (Danette) Janzen of McPherson, KS; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father and granddaughter, Haley.
