Charles “Charlie” Lee Smith, 67, of Marquette, KS, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his home in Marquette. He retired in 2022 from Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant where he was a Quality Control Electrical Supervisor and previously a Nuclear Inspector.
Charlie was born on November 16, 1955, in Lindsborg, KS, the son of Kristen and Sarah Jane (Sjögren) Smith. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1973.
He served in the United States Marine Corps.
Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie Arms of Marquette, KS; children, Brandon Smith & wife, Angie, and their children, Jesina, Grady, & Peyton, of Lyndon, KS; Blaine Smith & wife, Candace, and their daughter, Alexia, of Topeka, KS; Matthew Smith of Melvern, KS; Zachary Smith of Ottawa, KS; Brenton Arms & wife, Sacha, and their children, Luke & Evie, of Virginia; Rebecca Arms Cooch & husband, Keoni, and their son, Nico, of Arizona; grandson, Cameron Guse (Jeremy’s son) of Michigan; a brother, Alan Smith & wife, Jeanne, of Wichita, KS; Bonnie’s step-daughter, Cristina Arms O’Keeffe & husband, Kevin, and their son, Adam, of Texas; a niece, Kristen Gibbs of Jones, OK; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Jeremy Arms.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, July 10, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 11, at Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Marquette Lutheran Cemetery.
