Catherine McCartney

Catherine Wade-McCartney, "The Shoe Lady", 86, of Wichita, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012. She was born November 4, 1925, in Conway, KS.

She was well known in the Wichita and Houston areas for fitting children's shoes. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, William McCartney, her brother, Ralph, and a nephew, Terrance Wade.

Survivors include her sister, Vivian Clark, her nephews, Glenn (Chris) Clark, Ralph Wade, Jr., a niece, Diane Wade, and stepdaughter, Marsha (Mark) Swartz.

Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home East on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Graveside service will be held Thursday, October 4, 2012, at 2:00 PM at McPherson Cemetery in McPherson, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to Harry Hynes Hospice.
