Carol J. Thomson, 79, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2014, at The Cedars, McPherson. She was a waitress at White Swan Café, worked at Superior Cleaners, and had been a daycare provider. She was a resident of McPherson since 1956, formerly of Dodge City and Newton.
Carol was born on November 26, 1934, the daughter of Cleo P. and Anna Lorraine (Dunn) Phillips. She was united in marriage to Dale Harold Thomson on March 23, 1953. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Survivors include: daughters, Janice Godwin of McPherson, KS and Barbara Vaughn of Moundridge, KS; son, Bill Thomson of Hesston, KS; step-son, Jim Bauer of Georgia; step-daughter, Judy Entz of Hesston, KS; brothers, Jim Phillips (Linda) of Dodge City, KS, Rick Phillips (Pat) of Star, OK, and Eddie Phillips (Twila) of Dodge City, KS; sisters, Juanita Boatright (Tom) of Pembroke, GA and Marilyn Phillips of Montezuma, KS; seven grandchildren, Rick Godwin, Shane Godwin, Melissa Godwin, Shawn Godwin, James Martin, Kim Martin, and Kristy Thomson; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harold Phillips and Don Phillips, and sister, Diane Sidebottom.
The memorial service will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Inurnment of cremains will be at the Burdett Cemetery in Burdett, KS at a later date.
