Carol Norris

Carol J. Norris, 79, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, surrounded by family at Angel Arms, McPherson. 

Carol was born on June 25, 1944, in Haddam, KS, the daughter of Kenneth Elvin and Louisa Jane (Nieman) Rhine.  She graduated from Haddam High School and attended Emporia State University.  On June 20, 1964, Carol was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Henry Norris in Haddam, KS.  This union was blessed with a daughter, Kendra.  Bob preceded Carol in death on March 1, 2018.

Carol owned and operated McPherson Answering Service and McPherson Cab Company.  She attended Countryside Covenant Church.

Survivors include: her daughter, Kendra Kuchta (Donald) of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, Preston Diederich (Allie), Misti Unruh (Landon), Kali Graber (Zach), D.J. Hilzer (Lucy), Skyler Hilzer (Amanda), and Nikki Smith (Trevor); 15 great-grandchildren; half-siblings, Susan “Sue” Peltier (David) of Concordia, KS, Linda Friess (J.D.) of Neodesha, KS, Robert “Bobby” Mahurin of Sparks, NV, Janet “DeeDee” Blair of Modesto, CA, and Jean Mahurin of Millbrae, CA; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Rhine; mother, Louisa Mahurin; step-mother, Garnett Rhine; and husband, Robert “Bob” Norris.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, July 24, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 25, at Countryside Covenant Church.
