Wayne R. Logbeck

Wayne R. Logbeck, 85, of South Hutchinson and formerly of McPherson, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. He was a retired machinist for Bahre Machine Shop and had also worked as a refrigeration technician, oil field instrumentation technician, and electronics technician. As an electronics technician, he worked several years for General Dynamics (Lockheed).

Wayne was born on April 23, 1931, in McPherson, KS, the son of John Verner and Helen Mary Charlotte (Strom) Logbeck. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1949. Wayne served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1949 to 1955. On March 8, 1991, Wayne was united in marriage to Mavis Gene (Hurtt) Wagner in Hutchinson, KS.

Survivors include: wife, Mavis of the home; daughter, Nanette St. Marie and husband, Ray, of Lakewood, CO; step-son, Todd Wagner of Henderson, NV; step-daughters, Kim Knight and husband, John, of Hutchinson, KS and Kathy Lohrey and husband, Gary, of Hutchinson, KS; brothers, Jim Logbeck of Richardson, TX, Frank Logbeck and wife, Marilyn, of Rose Hill, KS, and Delbert Logbeck of Fort Worth, TX; sister, Martha Exline of Laguna Hills, CA; three grandsons, Timothy Ladd, Raymond St. Marie, III and wife, Tina, and Tiffany St. Marie; seven step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild, Eizo Wayne St. Marie; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in by his parents and sister, Sally Pattengill.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, June 4, 2016, at New Gottland Lutheran Church, McPherson with Rev. Harry Grinstad officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at New Gottland Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, June 3, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
