S. Dale Sheldon

S. Dale Sheldon, 87, of Hutchinson, KS and formerly of Rogers, AR and McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2019, surrounded by family at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was a retired wholesale hardware sales representative for Lee Hardware in Salina, KS and McGregor Hardware in Springfield, MO.

Dale was born on December 19, 1931, in Ellsworth, KS the son of John and Alice Marie (Crocker) Sheldon. He graduated from Vesper (KS) High School in 1949. He then graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO and Brown Mackie Business College in Salina, KS. Dale was united in marriage to Alene L. Wright on May 17, 1959, in Salina, KS.

He was a United States Army Veteran and member of the American Legion Post #24, McPherson. He was also a member of First Christian Church, Hutchinson.

Survivors include: his wife, Alene of the home; daughter, Diane Mears (Brad) of McPherson, KS; son, Robert Sheldon (Shannon) of Oak Creek, CO; brothers, Jack Sheldon of Holton, KS and Bill Sheldon (Darlene) of Homer, AK; three grandchildren, David Mears (Erica), Misti Marcantonio (Isaac), and Elizabeth Mears; four great-grandsons, Oliver Mears, Houston Mears, Blake Marcantonio, and Evan Marcantonio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Esther Horrocks.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 1, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Phipps officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
