Renee Lynn Smith

Renee Lynn Smith, 62, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at McPherson Hospital. She was a Senior Pharmaceutical Technician and had worked at Pfizer (and prior company owners) for over 40 years.

Renee was born on June 12, 1959, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Ronald Leon and Joan Louise (Lafferty) Mabes. She graduated from Canton-Galva High School in 1977. On September 12, 1981, she was united in marriage to Steven J. Smith at the Canton Methodist Church.

She was a member of the Canton Community Church.

Survivors include: her husband, Steven Smith of the home; two children, Shane Smith of McPherson, KS and Kelcie Sanchez (Domingo) of Inman, KS; mother, Joan Christensen of McPherson, KS; three sisters, Jacque Rinker (Ronn) of McPherson, KS, Rhonda Hamby (Chuck) of Canton, KS, and Michelle Unruh (Brantley) of Galva, KS; step-brothers, Brian Christensen (Rebecca) of Clearwater, KS, Joel Christensen (Chris) of Ft. Calhoun, NE, and Royce Christensen of Olathe, KS; father-in-law, Billy Smith, Sr. of McPherson, KS; sisters-in-law, Dayna Needham (Scott) of McPherson, KS and Angie Smith of McPherson, KS; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Ronald Mabes; step-father, Marlin Christensen; brother, Randy Mabes; mother-in-law, Shirley Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Tracy Smith and Billy Smith, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 22, at Canton Community Church (Canton, KS) with Pastor Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
