Kathryn Cross

Kathryn Elaine Cross, 79, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 20, 2021, surrounded by family at her home in McPherson. She worked as the head teller at Great Plains Credit Union, retiring after 28 years.

Kathryn was born April 16, 1942, in Great Bend, KS, the daughter of Eben L. and Anna Helena (Lindquist) Peterson. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1960. On June 20, 1992, Kathryn was united in marriage to Benjamin M. Cross in Anacortes, WA.

She was a member of Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Christian Church in Hillsboro, KS.

Survivors include: her husband, Ben of the home; children, Grady Cooper (Karen) of McPherson, KS, Sonja Hefley (Jon) of Marion, KS, and Sheila Baldwin (Dean) of Marion, KS; siblings, Janell Nelson of McPherson, KS, Dennis Peterson (Liz) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Linda Thomson of Larned, KS; two grandchildren, Sydnee Fahey (Braden) and Alivia Hefley; and many extended family & friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law, Glen Thomson and Glen “Gus” Nelson.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Christian Church (Hillsboro, KS) with Fr. Aaron Warwick officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 23, at Crestwood Memorial Park Cemetery (McPherson, KS).
