Helen Sams

Helen (Thompson) Sams, 95, of Glasco, died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at The Nicol Home in Glasco. She was a homemaker, teacher, and a secretary for Dr. Harwood's office in Glasco.

She was born February 11, 1912 near Barnard, Kansas, the daughter of William M. and Ada (Brockway) Thompson. She had been a Glasco resident since 1958, and had formerly lived in Simpson, Wichita, and Salina.

On October 17, 1931, she was united in marriage to Oran Elmer Sams at Kingman, KS. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2004.

Survivors include: a son, Ronald Sams and wife, Suzanne, of Millsboro, DE; a daughter-in-law, Janis Sams Houdek of Belleville, KS; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Ray Sams, a brother, Ervin Thompson, and two sisters, Mabel Pruitt and Vivian Siegrist.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 16, at the Glasco United Methodist Church. Pastor Tom Corman will officiate the service. Inurnment will be in the Glasco Cemetery. There will be a reception with the family after the service, in Glasco, at a place to be announced.
