Eryka E. Gibbs

Eryka E. Gibbs was born on December 8, 1978, in Chester, PA, the second daughter of Ray and Shirley Gibbs. She departed this life on September 3, 2021, at the age of 42, at Salina Regional Health Center in Kansas. She lived in McPherson all her life and graduated from McPherson High School in 1997. She then briefly attended Johnson & Wales University of Culinary Arts in Providence, Rhode Island.

She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, McPherson. Eryka was an adamant fan of the Kansas Jayhawks and many other things in life such as music (especially Tupac and Mary J. Blige), dancing, T.V., and laughing. On July 1, 2019, she wrote a note, “When I die, please tell my boys I love them and be good! Pray!”

Eryka leaves to mourn: her three sons, Devantáe RaShawn Gibbs of Missouri, Darriene Artell Gibbs of McPherson, KS, and Dominick John Stimpson of McPherson, KS; her parents, Raymond & Shirley Gibbs; sister, LyChelle Lawrence (Joel); and brother, Raymond Gibbs, II, all of McPherson, KS.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the First Christian Church with Elder Engel Yoder officiating. The family asks that all attendees wear a mask.
