Donald W. Hawkinson, 68, of Salina and formerly of Lindsborg, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Smoky Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salina. Don had worked at NCR and the Coleman Company, both in Wichita, and in later years, owned and operated a computer software business.

Don was born in McPherson, Kansas on August 6, 1946, to Donald D. and Nancy L. (Waggoner) Hawkinson. He attended the local schools and graduated from McPherson High School in 1964. He later attended McPherson College and went on to graduate from Wichita State University.

As a young man, he was confirmed at the New Gottland Lutheran Church, McPherson, Kansas.

Don retired in 2002 and moved to rural Lindsborg so he could be a caregiver for his mother, until she passed away in 2013. Shortly thereafter, Don relocated to Salina to be closer to his brother.

Survivors include: brothers, Craig Hawkinson of Salina, KS, Robert Hawkinson and wife, Kathy, of Wichita, KS, Martin John and wife, Ruth, of Lyons, KS; sisters, Ginger John-Levin and husband, Lee, of Santa Fe, NM, and Vivian Gobin and husband, Dwayne, of Hutchinson, KS, and many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Graveside service and inurnment will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 20, at New Gottland Lutheran Church Cemetery, McPherson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the National Kidney Foundation in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
