Dollie Clark

Dollie B. Clark, 89, of McPherson, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at her home in McPherson. She was a retired school teacher, having taught handicapped children for most of her career. She and her husband, Ben, moved to McPherson in 1994 and had formerly lived in San Diego, California.

Dollie was born on November 17, 1922, in Worthington, Minnesota, the daughter of Thomas Nathanial and Orla (Bicknese) Woods. On July 29, 1944, she was united in marriage to Bennie "Ben" Andrew Clark in Santa Ana, CA. She received her Master's Degree from San Diego State College, was a founder of the Association for Retarded Citizens, and was a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren.

Survivors include: her husband, Ben of the home; son, Stephen Clark of San Diego, CA; daughters, Jennifer Clark of San Diego, CA, Brenda Becker (Dwight) of McPherson, KS, and Peggy Porter (Randel) of Quinter, KS; sister, Orla Mae Brown (Truett) of La Mesa, CA; eleven grandchildren, Tobias Becker (Stephanie) of Olathe, KS, Jodi Sullivan (Will) of San Diego, CA, Andrew Becker (Lori) of Hutchinson, KS, Thomas Becker (Valerie) of Manhattan, KS, Traci Parrish (Phil) of McPherson, KS, Matthew Porter (Christel) of Goshen, IN, Landon Porter (Rachel) of Kansas City, MO, Nathan Porter (Stacie) of Lee's Summit, MO, Colleen Gustafson (Andrew) of McPherson, KS, Amy Porter of Wichita, KS, and Andrew Clark of San Diego, CA; eleven great-grandchildren, Clara, Conley, Evaline, & Josie Becker, Layton Becker, Skyler & Kayla Porter, London Porter, Madison Manning, Evan Porter, and Ethan Gustafson; and numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Douglas, brother, Robert Woods, and a sister, Bettie Standafer.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 26, 2011, at the McPherson Church of the Brethren with Rev. Chris Whitacre officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be in the Mausoleum at the McPherson Cemetery.
