Benjamin McClellan Richert, 54, of McPherson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at his home in McPherson. Ben worked as a welder at The Bradbury Co. for 27 years and was well liked by his co-workers.

He was born on May 1, 1959, in Glendive, Montana to Raymond T. and Ruby J. (Janzen) Richert. On October 14, 1982, Ben was united in marriage to Debra A. Willoughby in Miami, Oklahoma and made their home in McPherson.

Ben enjoyed riding motorcycles and coaching his sons in their sports during their school years. He also liked helping people and showed this by doing special projects for them. He was very fond of the holidays and enjoyed the family get-togethers.

The most important thing in Ben's life was spending time with family. He will be missed very much, especially by his grandchildren whom he loved very much. He was very fond of his pets, Shadow, Roxy, and Lucky.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Debra A. Richert of the home; his sons, Keith Richert and Kyle Richert of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, Kiya Richert, Lil Kyle Richert, Keira Richert, Kendra Mikkelson, Adison Henry, and Shaelyn Fields; mother, Ruby (Henry) Neufeldt of McPherson, KS; three brothers, Quentin (Rhonda) Richert of McPherson, KS, Larry (Janet) Richert of Moundridge, KS, and Roland Richert of Moundridge, KS; and many nephews and a niece.

Ben was preceded in death by his father.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Hopefield Mennonite Church Cemetery, Moundridge. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:30 PM, Tuesday, May 7, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:30 PM.
