Barbara Premer

Barbara J. Premer, 70, of McPherson, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. She was a homemaker and co-owner of Larry's TV in McPherson. She had been a McPherson resident since 1961, moving from Dodge City, KS.

She was born September 10, 1941 in Redwing, Kansas, the daughter of David M. and Vernie Lodessa (Smith) James. She attended high school in Osborne, Kansas and later graduated from Fowler High School, where she had moved prior to her Senior year. After high school, Barbara attended Central College in McPherson.

On December 18, 1960, she was united in marriage to Larry Lee Premer in Ensign, KS. This union was blessed with three children; Cliff, Chris, and Carolyn. Larry preceded her in death on February 25, 2011.

Barbara was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mary Martha Circle, Happy Homemakers EHU, Red Hat Society, Beta Sigma Phi, Order of the Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile.

Survivors include: a son, Cliff Premer and wife, Kay, of Goddard, KS; daughters, Chris Chaney and husband, Andrew, of Wichita, KS and Carolyn Janzen and husband, Mike, of Wichita; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Byron, Caleb, Caden, Anastasia, Wyatt, and Levi; a brother, Donald James and wife, Jean, of Windom, KS; and sisters, Marvel Foulks of Wichita, KS and Jean James of Wichita, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Richard and Delmar, and sisters, Bonnie Mae James and Wanda Reece.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael Marion and Rev. Jeff Gannon will officiate the service. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at First United Methodist Church with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Memorial donations may be given to the McPherson Shrine Club Children's Hospital Travel Fund, the Down Syndrome Society of Wichita, or Susan G.
